AgMaster Report – 03/27/2026
MAY CORN
Conflicting signals from the Iran War continue to make it extremely difficult to predict when it will end! On one hand, President Trump says the war is almost over & he’s negotiating peace talks with Iran! But they say nonsense – no such talks have taken place as missile & drone attacks continue overnite! This uncertainty creates much daily volatility in the mkts – if the war ended today, the mkts would retreat as the war premium would be shredded – if it escalates, energies would soar & bring grains with them! Meanwhile, Corn is 3 cents higher as continuing robust exports & expected lower 2026 acreage support the mkt despite oil being down $3-4 today! These 2 fundamentals will underpin the mkt into planting!
MAY BEANS
The upcoming annual PLANTING INTENTIONS & QTLY STOCKS REPORT is due out next Tues 3-31-26 at 11am cst! The bean acres on in question as soaring gas & fertilizer prices have muddied the water – originally bean acres were predicted to increase 4-5 million acres but maybe more – as fertilizer-sensitive corn acres go to beans! As well the US-China Beijing Summit has been delayed until mid-April! And today crude is down $3-4 but beans impressively are up 8 cents! Demand even sans China seems to be holding up! Biodiesel blending percentages are set to be announced at the CELEBRATION OF AGRICULTURE day on Friday at the White House & are reputed to be friendly to the CBOT! As well, President Trump is behind in the polls with the Mid-terms looming in Nov as he desperately need he same Farm Vote that got him elected in 2024 – so he will be favorable to the grains! Finally the global glut of grain is getting dialed in – we look for beans to grind higher into planting!
MAY WHT
May Wht is the “weak sister” at the CBOT – continually pressured by plentiful global supplies & cheaper Russian Exports on the world mkt! There are some drought issues on some of the Plains states that support the mkt! It will need help from adverse weather going forward along with strength from its neighbors Corn & Beans!
APRIL CAT
Apl Cat continue to be locked in a tight trading range closing lower today despite a friendly Cold Storage yesterday! The rallies are capped by the soaring price of gas cutting into the consumer supermarket budget & breaks supported by the onset of the best demand period of the year – the grilling season!
APL HOGS
Apl Hogs continue to be dogged by lackluster demand & poor technical action as even a friendly Cold Storage Report yesterday & a rallying DJI & a breaking crude couldn’t rally the mkt today! It awaits a quarterly PIG CROP REPORT tomorrow at 2pm – hoping for some good news to rally on!
