US oil and gas firms are lobbying against tighter sanctions on Moscow, saying that they give advantage to energy rivals to operate in the Russia, the world’s largest energy supplier. This comes as the US Senate is considering a bill, called DETER, that would allow for more sanctions if the Russian government is found meddling in future US elections. US top energy company Exxon Mobil previously opposed economic sanctions on Russia. In February, it said it would exit some joint ventures with Russia’s Rosneft due to new sanctions on Moscow.
